Surprise, my friend!
Vesey Street Vest, a new vest design in the style of best-selling A Vest for Charles, is available in time to knit one up for Father’s Day (or any day, really). AND The Knit No. 5 coupon is still active, so type theknitno5 (or just copy/paste) in the coupon field at either shop for 25% off this pattern, too.
So, what makes this vest so great?
no sleeves, which means you’ll finish faster, which means you may be able to get one done for Father’s Day, if you celebrate
worked all in one piece with integrated button bands - almost no finishing work
pockets created like giant buttonholes - cast off on one row, then provisionally cast on the next, so all you have to do is knit up some little flaps and sew them down at the end
short row shaping in the shoulders makes for smooth straps, while three-needle bindoffs are firm and tidy
slip-stitch pattern makes a handsome fabric
button holes are worked on both fronts (that’s intentional, not an error in the pattern - one of my favorite knitting tricks), which makes this handsome vest unisex, and have the added bonus of showing you exactly where to sew on the buttons on your preferred side
Find all the pattern specs in both my Payhip and Ravelry shops and don’t forget the coupon theknitno5. If you’ve knit A Vest for Charles, please know that I’ve streamlined some of the shoulder short-row shaping.
Happy knitting!
xxoo, Kathleen
P.S. Happy Mother’s Day for those who celebrate.
