Hi, I’m Kathleen Dames, and this is The Knit. It’s completely free to access and read, but if you would like to support my work, please consider a paid newsletter subscription for $5 per month or $50 annually. Thank you! Your support helps me create more knitting patterns and fun content ad-free. Thank you so much.
Today is Pullover Day*. There isn’t really such a thing, but there should be! So, today’s pattern is Beaton , originally published in the first issue of Filament (Ravelry link). It’s a bottom-up, cabled, seamless raglan with a cleverly-constructed (if I do say so myself) shawl collar with minimal finishing (graft together the underarms and weave in the ends). Even the cables coordinate with four, twelve, and 24 round/row repeats (the yoke is worked back-and-forth to create the collar). The original sample, in one of my all-time favorite yarns, Harrisville Highland, was model-sized. Maybe it’s time to create one to fit me…
Reminder: ADVENT2021 will get you 50% off Beaton (and all the Advent patterns through December 24th - turned out that was the only way to make the coupon work seamlessly in both shops), so use the links below to snag yours.
Happy knitting!
xxoo, Kathleen
*The third Friday of December is Ugly Sweater Day, but that concept is anathema to me, so we shall not discuss it further.
