Hi, I’m Kathleen Dames, and this is The Knit. It’s completely free to access and read, but if you would like to support my work, please consider a paid newsletter subscription for $5 per month or $50 annually. Thank you! Your support helps me create more knitting patterns and fun content ad-free. Thank you so much.
Today’s pattern (category: beret) might be one of the best deals in my shop. The Bonnie set comprises a beret and pair of gloves, both sporting a handsome knit-purl chevron pattern and incorporating some seriously clever i-cord tricks. Plus they’re both worked upside down! Starting from the fingertips and the beret “stem”, you will work your way down to cuff/brim. They may be inspired by Faye Dunaway’s iconic look in Bonnie & Clyde (and the style of the real life Bonnie Parker), but they look great today.
I created the set shown above with Brooklyn Tweed Loft, a woolen-spun fingering weight yarn, and these days I wear a pair of Bonnie gloves knit from some leftover sparkly sock yarn (I rock a coordinating but non-matching hat at the moment, but don’t be surprised if the urge to go matchy-matchy strikes any day now), so any fingering/sock/baby/4-ply yarn can result in a great pair of gloves and matching beret.
Please note that on Ravelry the Bonnie Hat and Gloves have separate pattern pages, but both pages lead to the pattern for the set. It’s a feature/bug of the Ravelry database that each item has its own page, even if they come from the same source pattern. In my Payhip shop, they've got one page for the set. So, use the code ADVENT2021 for 50% off the Bonnie Hat *and* Gloves (that’s buy one for half off, get the second one free or BOFHOGTSOF - not the same ring as BOGO but a better deal).
I hope you’re enjoying a dive into my back catalog, and I’ll see you tomorrow.
xxoo, Kathleen
