Friends, today seems like a good day to explore the hat category, and I’ve got a beautiful one for you.
Thaw Hat is a cozy toque with a deep ribbed brim and a beautiful, slightly lacy stitch pattern. That pattern is only 12 stitches (written and charted) meaning it looks complex but is actually pretty easy to work. My favorite part may be the top. When you finish the last repeat of the lace, you switch to stockinette and work some decreases, but somehow, thanks to the lace, with no special work on your part, you get this beautiful star on top of your head!
I designed this hat in rustic (yet not scratchy) Maine Organic yarn from Green Mountain Spinnery for their pattern collection At the Spinnery (Ravelry link to the ebook), but less than 250yds of any worsted weight yarn would work. Perfect for some stash busting! And today you can take half off Thaw Hat using ADVENT2021 at checkout in either of my pattern shops.
Until tomorrow…
xxoo, Kathleen
