Hi, I’m Kathleen Dames, and this is The Knit. It’s completely free to access and read, but if you would like to support my work, please consider a paid newsletter subscription for $5 per month or $50 annually. Thank you! Your support helps me create more knitting patterns and fun content ad-free. Thank you so much.
Whew! We made it. Day 24. Our last pattern category is shrug, and I chose the Strawberry Picking Shrug originally published in Jane Austen Knits. This is not a last-minute gift pattern, as it is worked in laceweight yarn (you could use fingering, too) with the kind of lace stitch that is worked on both sides - no resting purl row/knit round here. But it’s not a large item, and it’s the prettiest little addition to your wardrobe.
Strawberry Picking Shrug was inspired by Emma & Co. going to pick strawberries at Mr. Knightley’s Donwell Abbey, which also made this the perfect finish to this Advent collection. Jane Austen published Emma on Christmas Day 1815, dedicating it to the Prince Regent at his request. My request to you is to stay safe and enjoy the rest of 2021 as best you can.
The coupon code ADVENT2021 is good for 50% off all 24 Advent patterns in my Ravelry and Payhip shops through tomorrow, 25 December.
Thank you for joining me in this Advent knitting survey of some of my knitting patterns. I had a lot of fun revisiting some oldies but goodies, and I hope you did, too. I’m off to put the finishing touches on a mushroom Wellington and caramel espresso Yule Log, so you won’t hear from me until the New Year. Whether you are celebrating Christmas tomorrow or just making it through December 25th, I hope you have a day filled with peace and knitting.
xxoo, Kathleen
