Hi, I’m Kathleen Dames, and this is The Knit. It’s completely free to access and read, but if you would like to support my work, please consider a paid newsletter subscription for $5 per month or $50 annually. Thank you! Your support helps me create more knitting patterns and fun content ad-free. Thank you so much.
Today we have one final quick knit in the mitts category: Rumble Seat. Knit from a worsted weight yarn (Malabrigo Rios in the sample), the mitts take only 50-75 yards and feature a fun stitch that reminded me of polka dots. You could probably knit up one of these in a day, maybe even both. And then there’s the cozy cowl, long enough to be wrapped around the neck twice, which gives a look of the high fur collars popular in the 30s (our inspiration for the first issue of Filament - Ravelry link).
Oh, that texture stitch is so fun to knit and adds to much to the cowl and mitts! Now I want to go add it to something or maybe just make another pair of mitts. Two skeins of worsted (or approx. 400 yds) will give you both the cowl and mitts. Use that Advent code for 50% off: ADVENT2021.
Wherever you purchase your Rumble Seat Set pattern from, please note that the patterns for BOTH mitts and cowl are included, even though it just says “Mitts” for the Ravelry button - that’s a quirk of the Ravelry database entry system.
Just one more pattern to go. See you tomorrow…
xxoo, Kathleen
