Friends, sometimes you want a simple “little something” garment, and sometimes you want to fancy it up, and that’s where Whistler Pink comes in. A straightforward tee with circular yoke shaping that can be zhuzhed up with 3-D flowers knitted from the center out and attached to buttons via the hole left in center-start construction (when life gives you lemons, make lemonade). You could opt for simple buttons, but I found some gilded Venetian glass charmers that took the whole thing to eleven, which seemed just right for something inspired by a painting in a gilded frame at the Frick Museum on Fifth Avenue (Symphony in Flesh & Pink by Whistler).
Whistler Pink has some waist shaping and comes in seven sizes. I used Jo Sharp Mulberry Silk Georgette, a lovely sport weight merino/silk blend, and have to say that sport weight makes this a multi-season garment. I wouldn’t wear it during a heat wave, but any other time, either on its own or layered, it’s a great more-than-basic.

Happy knitting!
