Hi, I’m Kathleen Dames, and this is The Knit. It’s completely free to access and read, but if you would like to support my work, please consider a paid newsletter subscription for $5 per month or $50 annually. Thank you! Your support helps me create more knitting patterns and fun content ad-free. Thank you so much.
The Blossom or the Bole is a big beautiful shawl that will put three full skeins of sock yarn to work for you. It all started with a slightly crazy skein of Hedgehog Fibres called Daydream (lavender with spring green, electric purple, neon pink, and daylily orange - a riot of colors, if you will) that wanted to be involved in a shawl. By adding some rich colors from Backyard Fiberworks (Arbol and Cast Iron), I was able to put that crazy Daydream to use in this asymmetrical triangle shawl. Starting at one upper point, you will increase your way down through Leaf Lace, Garter Stripes, and Bird’s Eye mesh to a delicate Picot Bind-off. The lace is presented in both written and charted formats, so no excuses. Sooner than you think you will have a big (87 inches across the top of the triangle!) shawl to snuggle in
For half off all Advent patterns, use code ADVENT2021 in my Payhip and Ravelry shops.
And, yes, for those wondering the pattern title is taken from Yeats’s Among School Children, an old favorite.
Happy knitting!
xxoo, Kathleen
