Friends, this morning’s sunrise was dramatic, of the “red sky at morning, sailor’s warning” variety, which seems fitting to me for the Manhattanhenge Gloves (another two-piecer, this pattern comes with a matching cowl). Once again these gloves are of the top-down, i-cord variety - super fun to make, and the fingers each go so quickly that you might be able to finish one (if not both) in time for gifting.
What makes these gloves Manhattanhenge-y is the two contrasting fingers, reminiscent of the sun setting along the Manhattan grid and peeking through the buildings in late May and mid-July. I added a slipstitch chevron pattern to the cuffs and did an i-cord cast-off, both of which are repeated for the cowl. Any fingering weight yarn will work, though I am partial to yarns with some cashmere content—that fiber tends to poof up and fill out stitches for extra coziness without a lot of bulk.
If you’re ready for some serious i-cord fun (saying that makes me, like, queen of the knitting geeks, doesn’t it?), grab this pattern (another two for the price of half!) with the code ADVENT2021 in either of my shops.
A reminder that the Ravelry button takes you to the Manhattanhenge Gloves pattern, but you will receive the pattern for both gloves and cowl (same thing if you went to the cowl page).
Happy knitting!
xxoo, Kathleen
