Friends, today’s Advent pattern is the best sweater I’ve designed: Fougasse. OK, maybe it’s not the best (it IS pretty great), but it definitely is the sweater with the most wears (almost every day since April 2020). With lace panels up the sleeves and back (so pretty that they were admired at the Catskill Merino farmer’s market booth yesterday, when the weather was so balmy that I had to take off my coat - we broke a temperature record here in NYC), deep garter stitch hem/cuffs/buttonband/collar, and a saddle-shoulder style yoke (seamless - it’s all due to various decreases that shape the fabric into shoulders while maintaining the lace panels, so it’s fun to work, too), well, it’s just the best. I knit mine out of Juniper Moon Farm’s Patagonia DK, a merino wool that looks more rustic than it feels - the best of both worlds, really, since you look like a crunchy type when you’re really a softie.
The lace pattern is provided in both written and charted forms, and I included my fougasse recipe - it’s a French bread, similar to focaccia, shaped into a leaf, that is now a family favorite. All that for half price! Don’t forget to use the code ADVENT2021 for 50% off all of my Advent patterns.
Hope you’re having a great weekend…
xxoo, Kathleen
